dc.description.abstract | Abstract – During the NATO exercise ‘Open Spirit’ in 2015, soldiers of the German naval force protection unit ‘Seebataillon’ discovered a wreck in the Estonian Suur Strait (Moon-Sund) which from the Sonar images and an investigation by marine divers could be identified as German torpedo boat T 66. T 66 sank in 1917 during the ‘Operation Albion’, a German attack on the Baltic islands during the First World War. The article gives an overview of the brief history of the T 66 torpedo boat and, in particular, of how the boat was tactically used and what exact circumstances amounted to its loss. | - |
