Abstract
In the present work supersonic base flows with and without base bleed are studied to investigate the influence of the bleed on the flow field. To this end, simulations are performed using detached-eddy simulation. To evaluate the performance of DES, numerical predictions are compared with computations based on RANS and experimental data for the base flow without bleed. To understand the influence of the bleed on the flow and the base pressure distribution, predictions of the base flow with bleed are compared with numerical data of the case without bleed. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
