Abstract
© 2012 Begell House, Inc. The paper is concerned with a hybrid LES-URANS method. An explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model for the near-wall region is dynamically coupled with a one-equation subgrid-scale model for the outer LES region. Recently, the model for the dissipation close to the wall was refined by splitting the dissipation rate into a homogeneous and an inhomogeneous part and expressing both terms by exact formulations. The improved model is applied to different test cases including non-equilibrium turbulent flows with separations, e.g., the periodic hill flow and the flow in two 3-D diffusers.
