Abstract
The public transportation companies in Hamburg, just like in many other cities, plan to electrify their bus fleets. The planning and building of the necessary charging infrastructure at the bus depots represents one of the biggest challenges along that way. This paper analyzes one of the first depots in this city and investigates the factors affecting the load profile at the grid connection point. Variables such as the number of buses, bus range (battery capacity), charging power and preconditioning are considered in the analysis. The investigation shows not only the impact of these variables on the load profile and the load peak, but also the impact among each other. The findings of this paper can help with planning future bus depots and understanding their load profile.
