Abstract
© 2018 The Authors Published by Elsevier B.V. Guided Wave (GW) based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) takes advantage of the high propagation range of ultrasound in plate-like structures. This preliminary study investigates the properties of GW in uniformly laminated steel plates in order to enable GW based SHM in Fibre-Metal-Laminates (FML). Fundamental properties of GW in FML will be investigated solving the dispersion equation with special emphasis on the displacement field. The experimental setup makes use of Fibre Bragg Grating sensors inside and on the surface of the structure.
