Abstract
This chapter will discuss the experience of adult students in the DigiTaKS* project in Germany. The DigiTaKS* project aims to investigate the digital competence acquisition processes of adult learners in Germany. One of the sub-projects investigated how students use ChatGPT and other AI tools to conduct research equitably and ethically. The project uses a quasi-longitudinal research design approach, involving both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The chapter will discuss the literature and conceptual framework of the study related to AI, the methodology, findings, analysis, and recommendations regarding the ethical utilization of AI in a manner that is inclusive and equitable.
