Abstract
DC chargers shorten BEV charging time compared to onboard chargers due to their higher power. The shortened charging time is beneficial for public charging hubs with multiple charge points, as it increases the number of BEVs that can be charged per day. As the DC chargers of public charging hubs are mostly located outdoors, SPDs must be installed to protect the chargers and BEVs from transient overvoltages. In this paper the options to protect SPD from short circuit currents, considering the SPD configuration in DC chargers connected to BEV, is analyzed.
