The increasing availability of information from emergent systems and technology such as Industry 4.0 offers new possibilities for coordinating and controlling value stream processes. A six-staged procedure based on an extended value stream mapping method is introduced. This procedure systematically models and analyzes production and production logistics processes. The goal is to improve processes by applying appropriate control methods, based on harmonized information flows. Managerial lessons are introduced.
