Abstract
Wireless Technologies (Wireless communication) have been well-established, even in industrial applications, in the past few years. Compared to common office applications, the requirements in terms of robustness, coexistence, reliability and latency are considerably higher. Different automation solutions can be assigned to the industry sectors logistics/transportation, infrastructure, building automation, production automation and process automation, according to DIN/VDE 2185. The specific challenges on the sensor/actuator communication in the production automation will be presented in this paper. A solution is introduced, which was developed in cooperation with industrial partners from the Profibus (PI) Group and which is in the final state of the standardization process.
