dc.description.abstract We propose an all-optical switch or router that is based on the interaction of counterpropagating mutually incoherent spatial optical solitons. The concept is demonstrated experimentally by nonlinear collision of spatial solitons in a photorefractive planar waveguide in strontium barium niobate. © 2002 Taylor & Francis.
